Sachiyo Profile
Born in Niigata, Japan. Graduated from the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Awarded Flemish government scholarship and learned art direction from Jan Fabre and electroacoustic music from Anette Vande Gorne in Belgium. Has been producing performances, installations and live cinema since 1999. The focus of work is in such areas as the relationship between visual and audio, microscopic worlds, and audience participation. Presented works in Prague Quadrennial (‘03) as a laureate of Pola Art Foundation grant (‘03-‘04). Other International appearances include APAP (‘02), ISEA (’02), and Powel Street Festival (07). Also active in workshops and lectures on auditory-centered approach in cinema and stage creation. Currently based in Vancouver, Canada.
